The Brick-by-Brick Method

Is this thing on????? Oh ok, looks like it is. I'm back or whatever I guess, anyway let's proceed.

We all do it. At the beginning of the year we say, "New Year, New Me!" We set goals, make resolutions, and some of us even decide to sober up. The reality of the situation is that some of us will make the cut and meet our goals and some of us will not. But I think that's ok because as long as you made a step in the right direction, any progress is progress, right? Or so the positive people say. You know what I'm talking about right? Your residential positive person. The let you know you're not a failure and encourage you not to give up person, yeah exactly, that person. They're not wrong, but for those of us who refuse to put the pedal to the metal on our goals, they may not be all the way right either. According to society, time is of the essence, but my personal opinion is do you. You ultimately get to decide if you speed it up or not.

Whether or not I'm a positive person is neither here nor there in this moment. Read this blog and cast your judgement on me as you wish, but might I warn you, do so with caution. I've been told that I'm not always what I appear to be. Regardless, we should all know the golden rule by now that judging a book by its cover is never really a good thing. And yes ladies, gentlemen, and those in between, social media can be a cover. So, let me guess, your question now is, well is it a cover for you Miss Midknight? And to that I'll say, your opinion, your prerogative.

Now back to resolutions. We just reached June, so it's the perfect time to check in. How's it going everybody? Hopefully well. Now the question you all have been dying to know the answer to. How's it going Miss Midknight? Well, without saying too much, I'll tell you this, it's going. Something that I adopted this year that's been working for me is something that I like to call the brick-by-brick method. I take one goal that requires consistency and try to work on it for a little while before I add the next thing, then I do the same before adding another. It helps me stay on track. I try to think of each new addition as a reward, and so I don't add another thing until I've met my consistency goal with the previous thing. Hopefully this makes sense. If not, think of it as a game with levels. If you meet your goal for a week, add another, if not, you stay stuck on that level until you're ready to move to the next. Keep adding levels until you beat the game. You got this. See what I did there? Good ice breaker huh? But even still, regardless of your decision on my positive person status, you're welcome to stick around if you'd like, but at least you do know two things for sure, I'm funny, but most importantly, I'm smart.

Usually, my blog posts are filled with music, but I thought we'd try something different to kick off our new era. After all, silence can be golden. No ground rules, community agreements, or anything like that this time. I just don't feel like it? Respect is given not earned, and so I've decided this year that I'm no longer advocating for it, and neither should you. But again, that's neither here nor there. So, let's just pivot and focus on what we can control which right now seems to be progress on those resolutions.

XOXO,
Princess

P.S. Check out my new logo. Good, isn't it? I did it myself. #smooches💋
